Welcome to Blaine Area Little League (B.A.L.L.)! It can sometimes feel overwhelming to understand what program to register your child for or what programs they are eligible to participate in. This section is to help you navigate what options are available for your child(ren).
Your player’s league age is determined by the Little League Baseball®
age chart. The Age Determination Date for a player is the actual age of a child on August 31 of the current year. Please identify your child's league age to know what programs they are eligible for
League Age 4
Players who are league age 4 are eligible for tee-ball. There are no player evaluations or parent volunteer requirement at this age.
League Age 5
Players who are league age 5 are eligible for tee-ball and coach pitch. There are no player evaluations or parent volunteer requirement at this age.
League Age 6
Players who are league age 6 are eligible for coach pitch. There are no player evaluations or parent volunteer requirement for at this age.
League Age 7
Players who are league age 7 are eligible for machine pitch. There are no player evaluations or parents volunteer requirement for machine pitch.
Players who are league age 7 can evaluate for Rookies. If a 7 year old evaluates in the top 5%, they will be eligible to play in Rookies. There are player evaluations and parent volunteer requirements for Rookies.
League Age 8
Players who are league age 8 are eligible for Rookies. There are player evaluations and parent volunteer requirements for players in Rookies. Players who are league age 8 can play down into the machine pitch division. There are no player evaluations or parents volunteer requirement for machine pitch.
League age 9
Players who are league age 9 are eligible for Minors and Majors American. Most 9-year-olds will play in Minors. Division placement is based on evaluation. There are player evaluations and parent volunteer requirements for players in Minors and Majors American. Players who are league age 9 can play down into Rookies Division.
League age 10
Players who are league age 10 are eligible for Minors, Majors American and Majors Nationals. Most 10-year-olds will play in Minors or Majors American. Division placement is based on evaluation. There are player evaluations and parent volunteer requirements for players in Minors and Majors divisions.
League age 11
Players who are league age 11 are eligible for Majors American and Majors Nationals. Division placement is based on evaluation. There are player evaluations and parent volunteer requirements for players in Majors.
League age 12
Players who are league age 12 are eligible for Majors American and Majors Nationals. Division placement is based on evaluation. There are player evaluations and parent volunteer requirements for players in Majors.
Challenger League
There are two age groups for challenger league:
- Little League: Age 4 up to age 22
- Senior League: age 15 and up
